My First Few Days

Well methinks it's about time for me to post a little tidbit. Although I haven't done all that much. So don't get too excited.

On Thursday, went with Quach to see Tenyia and Nicole off from the train/bus station/depot. After Tenyia's train came, we headed over to the bus depot and I realized I was quite thirsty. Seemed lucky to have found a little window to buy foods and drinks and things - but it seemed closed. But then a guy inside told me I had to go around to the front of the 'restaurant'. He assured me I could just get a drink.

So we went around and entered what turned out to be a very very fancy place. I felt rather out of place asking if I could just buy a soda. We were sent to the bar and the guy there was really nice - gave me a free soda and we just sat at the bar for a little bit before heading back out.

When we got back to campus my mom called me to remind me to pick up my organ shoes from the church, so I made a trip over there and ran into my professor. Had a bit of a discussion with him. He fooled around and tried to tell me that he gave me a B- this quarter. Lucky for me I had already taken a look at my grade (that, and he's told me before that he figures anyone crazy enough to play the organ should get an A anyway...).

It was pretty exhausting moving out. So when I got home, we unloaded all the stuff, and I rather promptly turned in for a nap until dinner. I still have yet to do any actual unpacking... the bags and things are all over my room... I'll get around to that within a couple days I suppose. It's a bit annoying not having any idea where anything is, since I just shoved all my stuff into whatever boxes I could to get them loaded into the car.

That night I went to bed at around 10 or so. I got up at about 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Yeah, caught up on a lot of sleep-debt that night (not that I regret in the least bit the lack of sleep the last couple days of the quarter, once I didn't have to study anymore).

Last night I had hot chocolate. I had two cups. The first was one with tiny little marshmallows from Tenyia, which had the directions on it to use hot water OR MILK. I used water. But I had to try another cup with milk. So I had French Vanilla hot chocolate, made with milk. It was good, but then I decided it needed to be warmer. Not having used milk with hot chocolate very often, I was unaware that heating it would cause a volcano. So then I cleaned that up.

I watched the entire first season of The Office yesterday. Which really isn't that much of an accomplishment, it's only 6 half-hour episodes. I wasn't sure what to expect when I started but I have quite enjoyed it and the next season should be available to pick up from the library soon.

Woke up this morning at around 7, either because of coughing or because my teeth hurt. I wore my retainers for the first time since Winter Quarter finals. My teeth have some shifting to do. Got up and took the retainers out, then got back in bed but kept coughing. My mom brought me tea =). So then I watched the Sixth Sense b/c I haven't seen it in a long time. Oliver and Mariel, the guy's wife is DEWITT!! That was weird.

Then I went back to sleep. Noticing a trend.

Oh, and I've been playing music as well. Got the guitar out yesterday, and been playing the piano of course. Planning on continuing work on that piece that I started writing Spring Quarter (the one with 'the Tenyia melody' =P). I think it's going to end up being a musical interpretation of the first year of college, so I'm hoping it'll turn out well.

Gonna hang out with Resnick tonight and maybe a couple other friends.

I'm going through Stanford-amazing-friends-withdrawal-symptoms. Is everybody up for hanging out at Stanford next Wednesday? =/

Much love,
Alex

I'm excited for your musical interpretation. Because when you say musical interpretation I assume you mean you'll also be doing an interpretive dance. And I assume this means some bellydancing.

In addition, I'm totally down for canoeing back to Stanford on said day. :)
